Archival Photographic Information Service – A New Zealand (especially Nelson) and worldwide historical news clipping service covering a wide range of photographic and cinematography related topics and photographers. Augmented in some cases with other historical documentation.
Archives held – Personal papers, manuscripts/paper records, maps/plans, photographs, newspaper clippings. Advertising and personal documentation held on some NZ professional photographers, photographic retailers, some amateur photographers, camera clubs, equipment, films etc. In house directory on most early NZ photographers and photographic retailers indexed by region. Inclusive dates – 1840 to 1961 with some limited information past those dates
Note… We are now taking commissions to research and produce hard copy albums with heritage photos and documents combined for organisations wishing to document their history.
Archival Land Information Service – Information held on the first 2,000 Crown Grants for the Nelson Land District (which also included Nelson Province, Marlborough, Hurunui and Kaikoura.)
Note….We can research the history of your land from your current title back to the original Crown Grant and can provide Land Titles, maps and other relevant detailed with written reports outlining the land’s history if required.
Maori Section – Limited early Nelson Maori land history available – e.g. First Maori Crown Grant, conveyance, Huria and Hemi Matenga land titles/summaries (Delaware Bay) biographical reports, Maori photographic history, Maori heritage issues, Knapp collection Maori artefacts clippings, Wentworth Jones deeds (sale of the South Island NZ)
