Māpua Community Choir is an all-comers S.A.T.B. choir, with no audition to join.
Whilst the ability to read music is helpful, it is not essential, many of our current members don’t read music.
The choice of music is broad from folk songs to modern pop songs.
We have a pianist to accompany our rehearsals and from time to time we bring in other instruments e.g. guitar or ukuleles.
John Botting, the music director, has lots of experience taking community choirs and shares his wealth of music knowledge in a passionate but fun atmosphere.
We meet most Thursdays at the Māpua Community Hall, 72 Aranui Road, Māpua – 7.30pm to 9pm.
As singing has an elevated risk factor we are asking members to be triple vaccinated, wear masks whilst setting up/leaving and respect each other’s social distancing. We set chairs out to maintain 1m between singers.
Currently we are asking for a koha of $5 to cover costs.
