We are housed in the original District High School building which opened in 1913 and finally closed its doors in 1969.
The museum officially opened in 1987 to preserve and display precious collections of important artefacts and to enable us to share unique stories from our past.
In addition to informative static displays, we have changing exhibitions, usually two a year, which each tell a more detailed story focusing on a specific era from our past.
There is a comprehensive research room run by the Motueka Historical Association for the public and staffed on Tuesdays.
