The Nelson Tasman Vulnerable Housing Network (VHN) is a community-led initiative with the vision of ‘everybody lives in a healthy, affordable, and appropriate home.’
VHN was set up after Community Action Nelson (CAN) convened an initial hui in July 2022 that identified a need for an ongoing vulnerable housing network in response to the local housing crisis. VHN is supported by a Steering Group with members that represent the community sector and its partners in Nelson City Council and the DIA.
Network objectives:
- Strengthen relationships, information flows/education and connections across those working with people/whanau experiencing housing vulnerability.
- Greater shared understanding of available services and collaborative activities underway to support people experiencing housing vulnerability
- Identify gaps in services/support provision and implement some possible collaborative community-led solutions
- Identify ways to improve co-ordination within the sector
- Focus on housing vulnerability for renters and those living without adequate accommodation.
All are welcome to attend the network’s forums that are held four times a year.
Send an email to Ana ([email protected]) for details about the next forum and to be added to the email list.
