The Probus Club of Nelson City is a vibrant and energetic club with an enthusiastic membership.  It was formed in 2007 from separate mens and womens Probus Clubs and has subsequently gone from strength to strength.  Our club is open to both men and women approaching or beyond retirement age.  Current membership is a little over 100, with strong attendance at the monthly meetings and other activities.  Members are mostly drawn from Nelson, Stoke and Richmond areas of our region, though some travel from further afield.

Our regular monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month at the Nelson Golf Club – 38 Bolt Road, Tahunanui, Nelson 7011

Meetings commence at 10am with the first 30 minutes used to discuss upcoming events or matters of interest to members.  We also have a speaker who delivers a short address, a quiz or other similar activities.  We break at 10.30am for morning tea for which we provide tea, coffee and snacks such as scones or muffins.  At 11am we re-convene to listen to our speaker for the month who will normally speak for up to an hour before our meeting is concluded at midday.

Visitors are welcome to attend our monthly meetings, but please contact the Secretary via email before coming along(for catering purposes) eg.

A variety of activities are planned for each month, eg. Sunday lunch group, Walking group, Scrabble group, Ukelele group, Cycling group, Chess group, Book Challenge Group, Coffee morning group.  Whilst the day trips are very popular, members also look forward to our other events such as picnics, visits to local restaurants and theatre outings.  Outings are arranged as bus trips, by car or car pooling.
