Saxton Cricket Oval is a boutique international cricket ground with ICC (International Cricket Council) accreditation.  Every summer it hosts the Blackcaps in one-day International’s or twenty-20’s against Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or the West Indies.

A 12-minute drive from Nelson Airport, the grounds offer privacy without compromising views across the playing fields to the Kahurangi National Park and Richmond Range.  The grassy, curved spectator banks of the Oval are connected by the Saxton Oval Pavilion, a stunning piece of architecture that is designed for hosting VIPs, international cricket legends, media and event crew.  It is also home Saxton Athletics.

The wicket itself is constructed of special clay sourced from Waikari in North Canterbury, which is renowned for its true and consistent bounce, making it ideal for the first-class demands of international and national matches alike. 

After each summer, this beautiful location is available for your special event.  The facility has an amazing Lounge Suite which is perfect for all types of functions, celebrations and parties.
