Sport NZ fully fund the Rural Travel Fund which is administered locally on their behalf by Tasman District Council.

There are two funding rounds each year, closing 30 April and 31 October.

The grants provide assistance for:

• Travel costs related to local regular sports competition for junior teams (5-19 years)

The grants do not provide for:

• Travel costs related to practice;
• Travel costs of coaches;
• Travels costs for regional or national events;
• Travel costs related to interschool events during school time.

Selection process

A Council assessment committee made up of local councillors considers all applications and apportions available funds accordingly.  More detailed guidelines are available when applications open.  Please read these when making your funding application.
