Look no further! Way2Go is a project aiming to increase the physical activity levels of the regions residents in their communities – with a focus on those who are aware they should be active but currently are not.
Way2Go’s Key Objectives:

Nelson Way2Go Cluster:
Three organisations are working together as the Nelson Way2Go Cluster, offering a range of physical and nutritional activity programmes in Nelson called ‘making the active choice the easy choice’. The organisations are Saxton Stadium, Tahunanui Community Centre and Victory Community Centre – deliver diverse programmes to their communities. The organisations work to develop activities to meet the needs of these communities using staff, paid tutors and volunteers to deliver them.
Saxton Stadium is a regional sports facility that hosts a range of sports associations and has a wide variety of facilities . It offers Super Saxton Class, No More Mummy Tummy, Shape Up classes plus Walking & Social groups, Tai Chi Course, Table Tennis. Tahunanui Community Centre is a vibrant, growing community hub that assists Tahunanui to thrive by connecting local people, and being a catalyst for positive locally-led action and change. To provide opportunities for people to connect through sharing interests and activities, the Community Centre currently hosts activities and events including book groups and family events. There is a monthly morning garden group and a regular community garden group. New activities are being added all the time, in response to what residents would like to offer, be involved in or organise. The Centre also provides some food assistance. A meeting room is available for hire, as is the preschool for children’s parties. Tahunanui Community Centre also provides links, information and support for people to engage in or lead wider community events and activities. Victory Community Centre is a multi-cultural centre. Uniquely located on the campus of Victory Primary School, it is a hub of community activity in central Nelson offering recreational, social, physical activity, cultural support and services for health and wellbeing. Our doors are open from 8am to 5pm weekdays.
Each school term, VCC organises a wide range of low-cost courses, classes and workshops to get people moving, connecting and learning. We call it our Victory on the Move programme; activities vary depending on need and time of year.
Regular sessions that run through the year are Handcraft sessions, Sit and Be Fit, Pilates, Laughter Yoga, Yoga, Multicultural Seniors, Shoshin Kendo and Victory Play Group. Badminton and Table Tennis and various other classes for children and adults also run during the week.
