At Whenua Iti Outdoors we deliver experiential learning programmes in the outdoors that focus on personal and social development.  It is our mission to achieve positive change in individuals and communities.

With over 30 years of experience, our team know how to design programmes to maximise the beneficial outcomes for every individual and community group who attends one of our courses. All our programmes focus on personal and social development through a range of adventurous, cultural, and environmental activities that provide essential life skills, personal growth and learning opportunities.

Working across the community we offer the following range of programmes:

School Programmes – For primary, intermediate & secondary schools these programmes align with the NCA curriculum & NZQA assessments to provide learning experiences outside the classroom – you might work in a team to build your own raft on a beach skills day, start a pathway into adventure tourism or come to WIO to develop your leadership skills.

Holiday & Award Programmes – From ages 7 through to 18, there are holiday programmes available that give children an unforgettable, fun & engaging experience in the outdoors! And they will make amazing friendships along the way. We also offer William Pike Award assesments for Primary Age children, and Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award assessments at Secondary level.

Community & Wellbeing Programmes – Connection to nature is more widely understood as an important part of your mental and physical wellbeing. Our Adventure Therapy programme gives this a particular focus.

International Programmes – Our international programmes are designed to give students or community groups a deeper connection with New Zealand culture and environment, drawing on the teachings of Te Ao Māori and our natural environment to leave with a greater sense of the Kiwi people.

Professional Programmes – Working with corporate and community groups we can facilitate team building or outdoors activities that will challenge and engage your staff and re-energise your workplace!
